Known throughout the music community as "Hollywood", this self taught musician
has an ongoing passion for music that spans over a 30 year period. As a young child growing up, I was not
fortunate enough to get some of my wishes. However, my determination and creative mind allowed me to experiment with
different objects from around the house and create different musical instruments. My first love was the drums, but living
in an apartment would not allow for such sound disturbances. Eventually, I convinced my mom to get me a guitar
for Christmas. I was thinking electric, she was thinking "box" (acoustic). I got a little bored with
the guitar, so I borrowed my friend's bass guitar, immediately I felt like this is where I wanted to be! By the
way, I am left handed, so I restrung the bass and put them on left handed so I could learn to play the conventional
way, the rest is history!
Over the years, I taught myself to play various
instruments including, drums, keyboards, guitar and various percussion instruments. When I was 15, I formed a neighborhood
band, Player's Choice. We performed at local schools throughout the city. While attending Eastern High School
in the early 1980's I joined Keystone Band, playing local gigs on the weekends. After that band separated,
I took time off from playing with bands to practice and work on being a better musician. In 1982 I was asked to
join a local Go Go Band "Redds and the Boys". I performed several times weekly, locally and on the east coast.
We went on to record our first album in 1983 "Hittin and Holdin". Later on in 1985 we recorded a single
"Movin and Groovin" which climbed the Billboard Charts. After years of performing and traveling up and down
the East Coast the group dismantled and we all went our separate ways. At that time I decided to start writing music
and start a pre-production recording studio. Over the years I have made considerable investments in the
studio, taking it from pre-production to a fully operational recording facility, which is currently going strong. I
have produced tracks for many artist, as well I have recorded bass on several major projects including a BET commercial
(Bass and Guitar on their ad promotion song, "Shining Star"), also I have had the opportunity to record bass on
3 songs on Tony Terry's 2002 CD release "My Best", and many more CD recordings. In between recording projects,
I would do spot gigs and get lorred back into the gig world, with groups such as, Inflight, Lady Rhythm and Fahrenheit.
I have also had the opportunity to work with John Stanley, musical director for Patti Labelle, Verdine and Fred White of Earth
Wind and Fire, Jaz of Dru Hill, "Black Trax" and many more... In addition to these projects, I was "MD"
(Musical Director), theme song writer and producer for a talk show on the "WB 50" televion network talkshow
"Urban Fortunes". Of recent times I have formed my own band, "Diverse Culture".
Currently, I am working on a local artist CD recording project, freelance bassist for recording projects as
well as live performances. I produce a radio broadcast for New Beginning Way of the Cross Church, "A Word
For Life", which airs every Saturday morning at 9:45-10:00 am. on local
am radio station 1340 WYCB. On this broadcast not only will my sound engineering be displayed,
but also my voiceovers can be heard throughout these broadcasts. Please tune into this broadcast and be blessed and inspired!
Stay tuned, more updates coming soon! This is me, and this is what I do!
